Part of the Worldwide Network of Pontifical Mission Societies

Since 1922 Missio has been the Catholic Church’s official charity for overseas mission, bringing the hope of the Gospel where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty in the world, and where the Church is new, young or poor.

Missio empowers local people to form and sustain communities of faith - training and nurturing future leaders so that the vital work of the Church in the world can take place.

It comprises four elements:

APF – Association for the Propagation of the Faith

Building churches, training leaders, supporting Faith communities

Mill Hill Missionaries – St Joseph’s Missionary Society
The English missionary society founded by Cardinal Vaughan in 1866,
and now active in Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, SE Asia and the Americas.

SPA – Society of St Peter the Apostle

Training priests and religious overseas

MT – Mission Together

Supporting vulnerable children in developing countries

The iconic Red Box resides in over 200,000 Catholic homes across England and Wales, a symbol of Faith Hope and Love. In our parish, boxes are brought in to Church to be emptied twice a year, in March and September. In addition many parishioners donate directly to APF-Mill Hill. In these ways we raised over £2500 per year in recent years.
